How did "judgement" come to be a term of logic?

Résumé: Beginning with Descartes and continuing via Kant to Frege and Husserl, "judgement" has been a central term of logic and philosophy in general. It was not a complete novelty, however, because the Latin "judicium" was used already in the Middle Ages. On the other hand, the Greek "krisis", of which "judicium" is the Latin translation, does not occur in Aristotle's Organon, from which most of our logical terminology derives. So two questions arise, one historical: where did we get it from? and the other thematic: does it deserve to be retained as a central term of logic.
