Armenian violinist Ani Batikian was only 15
years old when she entered the Yerevan State Conservatoire, being the youngest
student ever to study there. At the age of 19 she received an undergraduate and
at the age of 20 a postgraduate diploma with honours. She has performed as a soloist with National
Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, Armenian Baroque Orchestra, Katrineholm Symphony
Orchetra in Sweden and Yerevan Youth Orchestra, at the same time appearing
on TV and Radio. In 2003 Ani was awarded R. Manoukian full scholarship to study
at Royal Academy of Music, London. Ani was very highly commended in Wilfred
Parry Prize, as well as Marjorie Hayward Prize, in RAM, London. On her final
recital Miss Batikian received a DipRam Award for her outstanding performance,
a PgDip with Distinction and LRAM. In 2006 Ani was awarded the prestigeous International
Scholarship for outstanding MMus Student to study at the Royal Scottish Academy
of Music and Drama, under Prof. Peter Lissauer. She won the Hilda Bailey Prize
in February 2007. Ani Batikian is a winner of national and international
competitions in Armenia, including Levon Chilingirian Competition, (3rd
Prize, special prize for the best performance of contemporary Armenian
composer), International Hildegard Pabelick Jentsch Competition (3rd
prize), and All Armenian Competition (3rd Prize). Ani has
performed in “Music Alp” Festival in France and Levon Chilingirian Festival in
Armenia. She has performed with musicians as Levon Chilingirian, Ida and Ani
Kavafians and Alexander Chaushian. She has performed together with the famous
Hebrides Ensemble in Glagow. She has received masterclasses from world-known
musicians like Tasmin Little, Thomas Brandis, Mauricio Fuks, Tibor Varga, Joji
Hattori, Sylvia Rosenberg, Zvi Zeitlin and many others.
